Nowadays, many people argue against the government putting money on building theaters and sports stadiums. They have claimed that medical care and education would benefit the citizens and the country much more.

However, I believe it is worth building more theaters and arenas.First, stadiums and arenas provide ideal places for people to have physical xercises and entertainment. After a whole week’s hardworking, people can

enjoy a wonderful football game in the weekend, and refresh themselves with a good relaxation there. Moreover, the physical exercises are good for people’s health, which will ease the pressure of medical care.

Second, theaters and museums can be used as base areas of culture and his ory education. The British Museum, which is the largest one in the world, provides visitors with knowledge about the world culture and the arts. The visitors to the museum are all overwhelmed by the magnificence of the ultural and historical displays featuring mankind’s achievements. In addition, the performances shown in the theaters will also greatly enrich the lives of citizens. People can enjoy ballet, symphony, and Peking Opera in a theater, which contain the soul of Chinese and western cultures.

Third, running theaters and stadiums can earn much money. And this amount of money can do great contribution in other fields, including medical care, and education. After winning the Olympic 2008,Beijing made a plan to spend 160 billion RMB building an Olympic Village. This will surely attract many sports fans to China, which would be much rewarded, not only in economy but the whole society.

You can tell form my commentary above, since building theaters and stadiums benefit not only individuals but also the state, it is very worthy of these expenses. And the government should speed up the pace of the constructions.

An argument often heard these days is that whether or not the government should put money on building theaters and stadiums. Some believe that instead of spending money on this area, Medical care and education, both of which are basic developing factors of one country should be spent more money on. After weighting the pros and cons, I disagree with this opinion.

Firstly, theaters and stadiums are best choice for people relaxing. Most of workers, especially white collar who often feel nervous after one day’s hard work, need to relax both mentally and physically. Compared with staying at home, it is much better way to stay in comfortable theater and listen to a wonderful concert.

In addition, going to theaters and stadiums affect the same effect as education and medical care. Having more chances to go to theaters can help them mold character. There is no better way to keep healthy than doing proper sports in the daily. In this way, the culture and health will be improved greatly, which plays the same role of education and medical care.

Moreover, theaters and stadiums are basis essential facilities to a developed city. Take holding an Olympic games as an example, it is no doubt it will take millions of money to build stadiums. Why the winner country is proud of that. Because this is a confirmation given by whole world.

Of course I don’t mean that the more theaters and stadiums, the better society will be, after all, nothing can take the important place of medical care and education.

In summary, the key point is to keep both of this two part developing. Only in this way, can all people live better in future.

Some people said the government shouldn't put money on building theaters and sports stadiums; they should spend more money on medical care and education. Agree or not agree?

Recently, a criticism often heard is that the government tends to put too much money on building theaters and sports stadiums. They maintain that medical care and education would benefit the citizens and the country much more. However, I advocate building more theaters and arenas. Numerous circumstances lead to the worth of building theaters and arenas, but here are two main reasons:

What strikes me most of all is that theaters and sports stadiums provide ideal places for people to build up a world of relaxation. After five days of hardworking, people can refresh themselves by taking physical exercises and enjoining a football game there. Meanwhile, exercises is to health what water is to fish. The physical exercises can benefit people’s health, which will surely ease the pressure of medical care. Moreover, it provides people a good opportunity to enter into communion with each other, which will benefit people’s mental health.

Beyond this, it is also of paramount importance to use theaters and museums as the “social classroom” of culture and history education. The Sydney Opera House, which is the mother and father of all modern landmark buildings, has come to define not only a city, but also an entire nation and continent. The opera house shows the concept of modernism and the never properly finished inside provides visitors with a story of its creator Jorn Utzon. In addition, the performances which contain the soul of human civilization shown in the theaters will also greatly enrich the lives of people from all over the world.

Certainly, medical care and education both play dominant roles, but building theaters and sports stadiums will benefit not only the individual both mentally and physically, but a nation and continent permanently.

Which element between nature and nurture plays the major role in children’s personality and development is always a controversial problem. Of course, which you prefer depends on your own experience, life style and emotional concern. Here, I would like to illustrate my point of view about it.

Admittedly, different nature determines people have distinguished starting points in their lifetime. To beginning, in light of medical research, a person’s blood type has considerable influence to his character. General speaking, for example, a person whose blood type is A means that his personality is amiable and tender probably. Besides, the physical condition, even appearance may influence a person’s development. Statistics shows that beautiful people are more confident than others, because they do not need to worry about the prejudice from public. Obviously, some parts of our personality have been decided when we born.

On the other hand, although nature is important during the course of shaping personality, we cannot ignore another essential element, nurture. There are many factors which affect the development of children, both parental support and education being vital influence. It is reported that the kid whose parents are divorced is more likely has psychological troubles than those with a harmonious family. By contrast, as we all know, good education will positively cultivate a person’s personality and improve his self-restraint in a big way.

In summary, from what has been discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that partly because of different nature, partly because of different nurture, people have their unique personality.

People living in big cities face problems; government should encourage people to move to small towns. What are these problems? Do you agree government should encourage people to move to small towns?

People who want a modern life style, with a focus on luxury, convenience and accessibility, will choose city life. Advanced technological appliances to better job opportunities, better wages and extensive product ranges are some of the attractions of city life. But nowadays people living in big cities face a variety of issues. Some citizens advocate that government should encourage people to move to small towns as population density in cities increases, it leads to overcrowding.

In 2007 the United Nations estimated the total world population at 6.6 billion were living in urban areas. Roughly 80 percent of the U.S. population, for example, lives in urban areas. This happens because the demand for housing is more than the sup*** of housing.

Moreover, increased movement of people from rural to urban areas puts a strain on the city's infrastracfture. As more people join the commuter rush each day, roads and freeways become crowded. New construction adds to the chaos as it struggles to keep up with demand. Ambulances and emergency vehicles sometimes find it hard to navigate the bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hours. This can put seriously ill or injured people's lives at risk.

However, from the point of my view, cities have many benefits over villages for them. As a matter of fact, children growing up in small towns do not have as much access to education as children in cities. What's more, villages may not have enough children to create a school that goes all the way through high school. Cities on the other hand have multiple forms of education such as colleges and universities. Libraries and museums are available in cities. Meanwhile, entertainment is readily accessible in cities in the form of movie theaters, amusement parks and restaurants. More importantly, living in the city provides people with thousands of career choices.

Encouraging people to move to small towns is totally an unwise suggestion. Governments can further encourage the trend by funding education projects and ways to inform the populace about the costs of raising more than a set number of children. By using the carrot instead of the stick, people will be more inclined to choose to have smaller families.

Some people think governments should introduce laws assessing what nutrition and food choices to improve public health. Others think it is wrong. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some people think governments should introduce laws assessing what nutrition and food choices to improve public health. Others think it is wrong. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Food is the paramount necessity of people. However, in recent years, we are appalled by the frequent outbreak of such incidents as milk powder adulterated with melamine, lean meat powder and a spate of food contamination cases. In response, a growing number of people call for the government to take decisive actions to tackle food safety hazards by introducing laws assessing food nutrition.

People in favor of such practice believe that customers have the right to find out everything about the food to make sure that what they eat is safe. If this information is transparent, then customers can feel free to choose the food they like without worring that this food can be harmful to their health. Besides, by keeping the information about the nutrition of food transparent, it can also discourage food producers from behaving irresponsibly for the food they make since it puts them under the scrutiny of customers. By this means, food producers will be more careful about the materials they add into the food.

Nevertheless, some people hold opposite views, believing that releasing such laws fails to solve the food safety issues at its core. They maintain that this law can only result in food producers fabricating their nutrition labels instead of truly reflecting ingredients in their food. What's worse, this cosmetic work can lead to the dereliction of duty by government officials since they may loosen their monitoring on the food with such nutrition labels.

In my opinion, it is necessary to issue laws assessing food nutrition since they can hold food producers accountable for what they make by putting them under the scrutiny of customers. However, releasing the law does not mean that law enforcement officials can sit back and relax. Without those people's efforts, laws can only be a piece of paper, having no actual effect. Therefore, it takes both the law and people's action in implementing the law to deliver tangible results in our efforts to ensure food safety.

Nowhere in the world has the issue of competition and cooperation been so much debated as in our society. Nowadays, the competition is more and more furious between different groups, but many people think that parents teach competition to children that it will be bad for their growth, let them learn how to cooperate that is the most important. Above point is certainly true; thisessay will outline three reasons.

The main reason is that children’ intellect is not enough capable to ***yze right and wrong competition. If children do not have correct teaching, the competition easily leads children to a wrong way. For instance, children usually pay attention to match their clothing and toys; in fact, it is really worth competing thing that their study is being ignored.

Another reason is that if children work together, they could easily find out and sup*** their gaps. Because of limit of age,in order to children’s knowledgeis limited so that they have the different strongpoint. When they work together, they can learn the merit from others, and quickly correct their mistakes.

Last but not the least reason is the cooperation means common progress. A people’s ability is limited, but group’s power is unlimited.Lots of things are really difficult to complete by personal power. Nevertheless, people work together to solve problems that will become really easy and simple. Thus, it is important to let children get to know signification of cooperation.

In conclusion, children ought to learn signification of cooperation and how to work together, in order to their better future.

Travel is commonly perceived as a good approach to the traditional customs and exotic cultures of other countries or regions. However, some people are suspicious of the necessity of travel as we can learn about other cultures by reading books, watching films and browsing the internet, which seem cheaper, less time-consuming and more accessible. In my view, although these methods can help us get some general ideas, a full comprehension of the local culture can only be obtained through travelling in person.

Firstly, cultural items acquired from books, movies or internets only show the opinions or attitudes of a certain group of people, which in some circumstances convey wrong messages with cultural misunderstanding and discrimination. For example, in some books or movies British people frequently appears a bit conservative, sophisticated and indifferent, but when we travel to the United Kingdom, we’ll find many people friendly, outgoing and sometimes a little crazy. So travel grants us the opportunity to break the stereotypes brought by mass media.

Secondly, travel boosts cultural communication in a more active way than books or videos do. During travel, we can initiatively interact with local people and dee* experience their life, such as their dietary habit, endemic customs and unique manners, to mention just a few, while transiting our own culture to those local people in the process of mutual exchanges. Obviously, it is not that easy for mass media to achieve such a direct and effective interaction.

To conclude, although some mass media, such as books, films or internet, play a necessary role in the cultural exchange, traveling to other places is of greater importance in order to personally experience the distinctive cultures and customs which may diverge from what we have acquired from mass media.

When it comes to the issue about which approach should be recommended to people who are interested in other countries, some people may argue that traveling may be an optimal choice, but others believe that TV and the internet could be a substitution of traveling.

On one hand, there is a necessity of traveling to other countries because visitors could touch other cultures to a deeper degree. When a visitor comes to a country, s/he may make acquaintance with local residents and enjoy local food. For example, a visitor could really enjoy Sangria, a famous wine mixed with fruits, in Spain, but not just stare at a picture of Sangria on books and imagine its taste. Then, such experience enables a visitor to really know what a country is with more details.

On the other hand, TV and the Internet provide the public with an alternative way to learn a country. It is common that there exist a lot of forums on the Internet where a lot of visitors may share their unique experience of trips generously. Then, users could conveniently search for any information they need concerning about any specific country on such forums. Similarly, TV programs could provide viewers with information collected by editors that could also prove to be true and trustful under most conditions.

From my own perspective, these two approaches do not necessarily contradict each other, but just fit various groups of people. For visitors who have sufficient time, energy, and budgets, having a tour to some countries may be recommended to them since they could have a better understanding of alien cultures. However, for people who are occupied with their heavy work or have financial burden, traveling may not be accessible for them and thereby watching TV programs and scanning the Internet may be a better option for them.

The diagram gives a breakdown about different attitudes among undergraduate and postgraduate students towards equipments of a UK college in 2004.

While being questioned about the contentment of study facilities, two groups of students (both graduate and undergraduate) seemed to share the same point of view, where approximately[w/v] 85% of both students (two thirds of them showed their thorough support) expressed their satisfaction, leaving only around 15% students feeling in an [wv]opposite way.

However, divergence emerged among college students and students who were after Master’s Degree when it came to questions about the school catering service and social establishment. The majority of university undergraduates (97%) favored the college canteen, whereas 16% of postgraduates, 13% higher than their university counterparts, showed their reluctance. On the contrary, undergraduates appeared to be more complaining about social facilities, with 30% students announcing their dissatisfaction which exceeded the proportion of criticism within graduate students by 25%.

Overall speaking, most of the UK college students had a high comment on the campus appliance, yet undergraduates tended to be relatively harsher than graduate students.

It is true that foreign films are more popular in many countries than domestically produced films. There could be several reasons why this is the case, and I believe that governments should promote local film-making by subsidising the industry.

There are various reasons why many people find foreign films more enjoyable than the films produced in their own countries. Firstly, the established film industries in certain countries have huge budgets for action, special effects and to shoot scenes in spectacular locations. Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Avatar’ or the James Bond films are examples of such productions and the global appeal that they have. Another reason why these big-budget films are so successful is that they often star the most famous actors and actresses, and they are made by the most accomplished producers and directors. The poor quality, low-budget filmmaking in many countries suffers in comparison.

In my view, governments should support local film industries financially. In every country, there may be talented * film-makers who just need to be given the opportunity to prove themselves. To compete with big-budget productions from overseas, these people need money to pay for film crews, actors and a host of other costs related to producing high-quality films. If governments did help with these costs, they would see an increase in employment in the film industry, income from film sales, and perhaps even a rise in tourist numbers. New Zealand, for example, has seen an increase in tourism related to the 'Lord of the Rings' films, which were partly funded by government subsidies.

In conclusion, I believe that increased financial support could help to raise the quality of locally made films and allow them to compete with the foreign productions that currently dominate the market.

The progression of globalization is inevitable and undeniable. It has been widely noted that many of the worlds languages and cultures are dying out. To seek the solution, we should take a closer look at the causes first.

Most important of all is the objective reason. The essence of globalization is commercialization and centralization. It is convenient in communication that some prevalent languages and cultures have its predominance, which makes superior of the senior and inferiority of the junior. That leads to deterioration of some minors. These languages and cultures will be overlooked and devalued until they completely die out.

As concave and convex sides of a nutshell, it has subjective reason. With the burgeoning of some VIPs, many migrants have swarmed into the dreamlands due to economic drive and stimulation, meanwhile engaged in local culture perspective and discarding their native languages and cultures as a betrayal.

Today, it is common that TV news programs show the images of disasters and violence to the public. Discuss the reasons and the effects on the individual and the society.

In the song where is the love by Black eyed peas, there is a sentence: Negative images were always shown by the media, instead of spreading love, were spreading animosity. Indeed broadcasting the images of disasters and violence broadcasted by TV is a prevailing phenomenon at present. Here I will discuss the principles under this scenario and the possible impacts on the individual and the society as a whole.

First and foremost, the media especially TV broadcasters often do this in order to attract peoples eye. The existence of the internet websites merely gives more pressure on the broadcasting companies, as it is surely that their market shares are being divided. In terms of the profit interest, the TV companies will certainly not be at their wits end and do nothing.Instead, broadcasting violence and disasters will enhance peoples curiosity of watching the detailed news, hence in a way to boom the number of total audiences. Another point is that, TV shows those images might due to a special need. For instance, in China,

we have just experienced a very tragic moment: the SICHUAN, WENCHUAN big earthquake. At that time, the media was actually acting as a predominating role to broadcast the catastrophe, hence raising the awareness and consciousness of the public. A lot of people in the other districts and even from all over the world heard the news from the TVs and donate their money to certain institutions afterwards. That was thought to be the main reason that Chinese people could overcome this tough moment stark quickly. TV, hence becomes a rather instantaneous and effective medium to spread the big news and its merits is indelible.
