This year summer vacation, I read the American well-known writer Hemingways novel “ old person and sea ”. I extremely admire in the novel the senior fishermans will, he let me understand one person certainly must have relentless spirit, only then could obtain successfully.

I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the he-ro-in-e,though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart.
However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time. I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice. I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it.
I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong.
I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.
the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.
I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.
Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre.
My first impression of this story was from screen.
Its long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I dont remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. 怀着一点点期待，一点点激动，一点点敬畏，在 寒假，我打开了 尘封已久的这本书――《老人与海》。这本书在 书架上静静地伫立了 很久，此刻 我才敢打开书，和老人一起迎接海上的挑战。
这本书环绕一位老年古巴渔夫，与一条巨大的马林鱼在 离岸很远的湾流 中搏斗而展开故事的讲述。在 就如过山车一样的心跳历程 中，最终我读完这本《老人与海》，和老人成为了 海上的'英雄。心情渐渐*复下来，脑海里不 再是海上的风暴，而是一位老人的形象，不 怎么高达，有 着一般老人的特征，但是却散发着强盛的气场。这种气场，是闪闪发光的。

这篇课文讲述了老人和海鸥的深厚感情。老人每天要步行20余里到翠湖，那是海鸥经常出没的地方。每天他都去那里，不管风霜雨雪也坚持去，老人只为了给海鸥送餐，跟海鸥相伴。老人喂海鸥的时候，要撮起嘴，把饼干定很小心地放在栏杆上，退开一步，海鸥们应声而来，很快把饼干丁扫得干干净净。“我”还听见了老人对海鸥的起的名字……老人死后，海鸥们翻飞盘旋、连声鸣叫，老人与海鸥永远分不开……

I admire the old fisherman's will in the novel very much, he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit, could succeed . 有人说老人圣地亚哥是失败者，但我认为他是成功者，因为他从不放弃，敢于拼搏。我还记得他打鲨鱼时的勇敢话语：一个人不是生来就是要被打败的，你可以尽可能的摧毁他，但你不能打败他。是的，人要有面对死亡和失败的勇气。如果他们害怕失败，不敢追求成功，那他们就是弱者。做一个坚强的人，不要在失败面前放弃追求，不要放弃，不要气馁，保持做人的.尊严和骨气。老人圣地亚哥就是这样一个坚强的人。他被鲨鱼袭击时逃跑了吗？不，这是很多人力所不及的。也许他们会选择匆忙逃跑，但老人圣地亚哥却选择了勇往直前，与鲨鱼搏斗。这种勇于拼搏，不畏惧，永不放弃的精神值得学*。

《老人与海》讲述了一个老人捕鱼的故事。这个老人独自摇着小船在墨西哥湾的暖流里打鱼。已经八十四天了，他什么也没得到，连一条小鱼也没钓到。前四十天里，有个男孩和他一起钓鱼，帮助他，可他们还是天天空手而归，于是，小男孩的父母就不再让她跟着老爷爷了。第八十五天，老人把船划出去好远，他幸运的遇到一条大鱼。老人钩住了这条大鱼，却被大鱼带出去好远，不但要拉住绳子，还是提防它沉下去。最后，老人终于把这条大鱼抓住了。可是，老人在回来的途中，遇到了很多的不幸，他一而再，再而三地遇到鲨鱼，他一一地与它们做斗争，那些鲨鱼都被他杀死了，可是，大鱼也被吃掉了一半。最后，一大圈鲨鱼朝他游来，老人使出浑身解数和鲨鱼搏斗，鲨鱼把能吃的肉都吃完了，连头上也不剩一点肉，干干净净的。结果老人拖回去的只是一副大鱼骨架。但老人没有遗憾。

结合作者海明威的生活经历，得知海明威和文中的老人经历了同样的过程。他们都是从大才开始，中间受了很大的打击，最后失去了希望。读完《老人与海》，书的后半部分附有一些海明威的短篇小说。全文贯穿“死”字。看海明威的作品，我看的最大的是死亡的气息。文章以严肃、气喘吁吁的文字为主，让人胆战心惊，仿佛我看到的事情就发生在我们眼前。
但我认为，我们读海明威的作品，只能读他的文字、内容和技巧，而不能读他的思想。我们应该阅读积极的思想，而不是徘徊和挣扎在绝望的死亡边缘。其实那时候文章里的老人可以把吃了几口后钓上来的大鱼拖到船上，而不是把它留在外面让鲨鱼咬，和它们徒劳的搏斗。吃肉是鲨鱼的天性。老人自己也想把满是血腥味的大鱼放到海里去吸引鲨鱼，这不能怪鲨鱼从后面来。而且鲨鱼只吃他抓到的鱼，不吃他，可以说是一种善意的表示。我觉得，这可以说是“可怜之人必有可恨之处”。但是，从作者的角度看问题也不是没有道理：一是老人来的太晚。第二，被咬的大鱼可能还是比船重。第三：老人最后抓到的鱼被鲨鱼吃了，自然很生气，想和它们打一架，以至于吓人的鲨鱼此时不得不像老鼠见猫一样绕远路。
每个人站在不同的立场，所以从不同的`角度看问题。当时海明威的身心都受到了政治问题的打击。当然，他不能用一个老人来衡量。毕竟老人有机会夺回大鱼，但海明威能轻易向腐败的*屈服吗？所以，任何事情都有两面性。

一、解读选择
老人在被迫选择了那条海豚之后，对它无论使多大劲也无济于事时，其他的鱼钩又被鱼儿咬动的时候。这时他有了第一次选择，但这样的选择或许对于我们来说那根本不属于选择，因为我们对于自己付出了许多而还未见失败的情况下，我们始终是不会放弃。
在这做一个假设，倘若老人放弃了那条海豚，或许他不会在海里待五天，或许不会失败。因为那或许是一条较适合的鱼。或许也会成为第八十五天未捕到鱼的命运。老人也曾想过这样的问题，但老人或许一直持着这样的信念：“人不是为失败而生的，一个人可以被毁灭，但不能给打败。”所以他选择的是不可以打败，与海豚共生死。
其实在人生的许多选择中，我们在得知自己的能力有限的时候，我们应该学会去放弃，放弃并不等于失败，即便是失败也没什么，至少我们不会被毁灭，留得青山在，不怕没柴烧。放弃是一种美丽，我们只有放弃了才能去拥有新的属于自己的东西。
倘若老人选择了放弃，或许到最后他拥有的并不是只有梦，而是真真实实的生活。所以在人生的选择中，我们是强者，但并不是战无不胜的强者，一个强者真正要学会做的是学会去接受失败，学会去放弃本不属于自己的东西，人生便会多些许快乐。
二、人生无奈
因为人生有许多的选择，所以无奈。
老人深爱着这一片自己一生出没的大海的仁慈和美丽，深爱大海的飞鱼轻捷和不畏惧黑暗，深爱大海的鸟儿的柔弱和纤巧。甚至他喜欢自己钓起被自己杀死的海豚，但为了生计，他只有这样，只有去抗击大海，只有在心里把飞鱼当成朋友，只有去可怜那些纤巧的小燕鸥，只有与海豚成为自己的敌人。
我们生活中有太多的无奈，但我们都不想去拥有，但倘若我们一味的去逃避无奈的话，我们就会被生活抛弃。生活的真实便是有生活的无奈，我们对生活的无奈我们只有去抗争，因为世界本来就是一个弱肉强食的社会，我们不去吃人就会被人吃掉。就象老人捕到的海豚一样，在它的一生也不知吃过多少鱼儿，但它最后还是被鲸鱼吃的一干二净。
老人在生活的无奈中总是在证实着自己的人生，那我们生命的价值真的需要去证实吗？
三、证实生命的哲学
“他已经证实过上千回了，这算不上什么。眼下他正要再证实一回。每一回都是重新开始，他这样做的时候，从来不去想过去。”
在老人证实的生命价值的话里我们看到了我们的生命每一刻都是一个开始，我们应该忘记这个世界有时间的存在，也只有这样我们的活着才拥有活着的价值。
其实我们的一生都是在证实自己，我们本不希望向生活或向别人证实什么，但如果我们没有去证实我们自己，我们就会被生活所嘲笑，我们承受不了生活的嘲笑，所以我们只有去承受生活的苦难去证实自己每一段路的价值。
在证实生命的价值时，我们需要的是学会去忘却自己的拥有，我们不需要去用曾经拥有过的东西去安慰自己，我们每一次的抗争都是一次开始，我们应该记忆倾空才能放下属于自己新的东西。所以我们要铭记，生命之于我们的每一秒都象是我们从娘胎里呱呱坠地一样诞生，都是一个新的开始，我们才能去证实我们生活里每一秒的价值。
四、孤独的诠释
孤独是可怕而又能使人为人的感觉。倘若我们生活的每一天都没有孤独感的话，那就证明我们的心灵已经失去了思想。孤独是思想的胚儿，只有在孤独时我们才会去思索人生。
老人在孤独面对着无边无际的大海时，思索过鸟儿的人生，思索过大海的面目，思索过人性的本质。
在他的思索里，他看见了一个弱肉强食的世界，看见了人与自然有太多的不和谐，看见了人类那永恒的无奈，看见了人类永恒的孤独和去改变孤独的信念。

我们畏惧孤独，但我们又不能不去喜欢孤独，因为它是我们人类永恒的东西，所以应该学会去认识孤独，只有这样我们在迷惘中就会在孤独中去寻找我们人生的坐标，才能在孤独中去寻找一个真实的自我，而不是畏惧、恐怖，人生也少些许庸人自扰的成语出现在我们的身边。
五、老人的梦是什么
为什么老人的梦里“不再梦见风暴，不再梦见妇女们，不再梦见伟大的事件，不再梦见大鱼，不再梦见打架，不再梦见角力，不再梦见他的妻子”而是梦见金色海滩、白色海浪和狮子的戏耍？
我们在老人在出海里时看到的大海，看到的鸟儿，看到的飞鱼和自己捕到了海豚里，或许我们看到的老人并不喜欢去捕杀自然里的任何东西。他对它们更多是一种怜悯，他想逃避这弱肉强食的社会，他不想再做一个社会的凶手，他为什么几次说自己不相信教会，而又三番五次的'去颂读《天主经》和《圣母经》他并不是希望从这得到力量得到怜悯，而是希望自己从此能得到**。

《老人与海》这本书讲了这么一个故事：古巴老渔夫圣地亚哥连续八十四天没捕到鱼，被别的渔夫看做失败者，可是他坚持不懈，终于钓到了一条大马林鱼，大马林鱼将他的小船在海上拖了三天才筋疲力尽，被他杀死了绑在小船的一边，在归程中一再遭到鲨鱼的袭击，他用尽了一切手段来反击。回港时只剩鱼头鱼尾和一条脊骨。尽管鱼肉都被咬去了，但什么也无法摧残他的英勇意志。
看了这本书，我的心久久不能*静，这位普通而又可敬的老人使我深深的懂得了：做人不应该被任何困难所屈服，应该尽自己最大的努力与生活中的磨难做不屈不挠的斗争。
人性是强悍的，人类本身有自己的限度，但正是因为有了老渔夫这样的人一次又一次地向限度挑战，超越它们，这个限度才一次次扩大，一次次把更大的挑战摆在了人类面前。在这个意义上，老渔夫圣地亚哥这样的英雄，不管他们挑战限度是成功还是失败，都是值得我们永远敬重的。因为，他带给我们的是人类最为高贵的自信。

读了《老人与海》让我知道了要耐心才能做好事情。老人每天都出去耐心打鱼，这是为了打到鱼可以养家糊口。好心人知道老人的辛苦，便送给了他大量东西。这样，全家人就能生活下去了。
老人对鱼很熟知，儿子很喜爱老人的鱼，老人也喜爱自身的鱼。老人需要去打鱼。老人每天独自划着小船去捕鱼，前四十天里还有一个人和他一起捕，但一条都没有收获。他没有灰心，终于在八十天左右，就捕到了一条非常不错非常不错的鱼。
老人喜爱飞鱼。他们喜爱吃鱼，老人很爱儿子，儿子也爱老人大量种鱼的名字。老人和鲨鱼进行了五次战斗，鲨鱼吃光了老人所有的战利品。有一个人说：“老人杀死那条登多索鲨。”鲨鱼大概每次来袭击，老人都可以打准他们。战斗开始时，老人知道任何努力都是白费的。所以，老人就愈加努力的捕鱼了。他是古巴圣地亚哥的老渔夫。

在这个暑假里，我读了许多书。其中，一本好书陪伴了我整个暑假。这本书就是《老人与海》。它是我最喜欢的一本书，我也从中学到了很多的道理。
书中的老人是打鱼的，不过他打鱼技术并不怎么样。有一个孩子跟着老人一起打鱼，这个孩子让老人感到很快乐。一个人的孤独终究打破了俩个人的幸福。可好景不长，老人由于一直没有打到大鱼孩子的父母让他跟着别的船只大鱼。虽然不在一起打鱼了，不过孩子经常来陪伴老人，让老人不孤独、不寂寞。
一次，老人去远海打鱼，在第一天老人就打到了一只很大的鱼，老人和它耗了两天一夜，大鱼终于被老人打到了，老人非常非常的开心。可就在返回的路上遇到了成群的鲨鱼。老人使出浑身解数和鲨鱼拼了命的搏斗鲨鱼拔打鱼的肉全都吃完了。老人拖回家的只是一副大鱼的骨架。
这就是我最喜欢看的书《老人与海》。这本书告诉了我：老人没有被任何困难所压服，他尽自己最大的能力与生活中的磨难作斗争。他还说了一句话；“一个人并不是生来就要给打败的，你可以消灭他，却不能打败他。”这种永不言败、不屈不挠的精神所感动并激励着我们每一个人。

其实人生总是有坎坷的，只有坚持了成功才会大于失败。就像我刚刚开始学跳舞一样，先要练压腿和劈叉等一些基本功。那时还小，压腿还不算困难，但劈叉就有点困难了。每次劈都要靠着墙，因为只有这样才能劈直一些。虽然十分艰难，但我坚持了下来，最终克服了这个困难。如果人生中一帆风顺，没有一件不顺心的事发生，那我们也就不可能从这当中吸取教训。但遇到了不顺心的事，一定不能轻易放弃，要努力要坚持，相信自己一定会成功！

老人是可怜的，但是呢，捕鱼、打渔的老人更为可怜。是啊！在捕鱼的时候，坐在船上的时候，有可能会遇到狂风大浪，捕鱼时，又有可能捕到大鱼，但是，老人一般很瘦弱，在捕大鱼时，应该很难办到吧……
这位风烛残年的渔夫一连八十四天都没有钓到一条鱼，几乎都快饿死了；但他仍然不肯认输，而充满着奋斗的精神，终于在第八十五天钓到一条身长十八呎，体重一千五百磅的大马林鱼。大鱼拖着船往海走，但老人依然死拉着不放，即使没有水，没有食物，没有武器，没有助手，而且左手又抽筋，他也丝毫不灰心。经过两天两夜之后，他终于杀死大鱼，把它拴在船边。但许多小鲨鱼立刻前来抢夺他的战利品；他一一地杀死它们，到最后只剩下一支折断的舵柄做为武器。结果，鲨鱼又来了，大鱼终于被吃掉了。最终，老人筋疲力竭地拖回一副鱼骨头。他回到家躺在床上，只好从梦中去寻回那往日美好的岁月。

暑假的一天，我和妈妈到图书馆里借书，突然看到了这本书——《老人与海》。
《老人与海》这本书的作者是海明威，我以前没有读过海明威写的书，这是我第一次读他的作品，就让我感到大吃一惊。在故事里，主人公的性格，特点被作者描写的淋漓尽致。
故事中的老人八十四天没打到鱼了，在第八十五天的时候，他仍然独自出海，在海里终于遇到了一条大鱼，老人和鱼整整拼搏了三天两夜，终于把这条比船还大的鱼捉住了。再回去的路上，因大鱼的血腥味太大，引来了六只巨大而又凶残的鲨鱼，他使出浑身解数跟鲨鱼搏斗，最后终于杀死了这六条鲨鱼。虽然这条大鱼被鲨鱼吃得只剩下了鱼骨头，但是它还有大约800磅重。
这就是《老人与海》，老人没有被任何困难压服，他尽自己最大的努力与生活中的磨难做不屈不挠的斗争。
这永不言败的精神不正是我们要学*的吗？
暑假里，我读了由美国作家海明威所写的《老人与海》。
这本书主要讲述了一位名叫桑提阿果的老人出海打鱼的故事：老人在最初的84天里一无所获，连一条小鱼都没有抓到，但他依旧不灰心，决定在85天继续出海打鱼，好心的邻居给他拿来了一些鱼饵，随后他就划着船就出海了。皇天不负有心人，这天他终于钓到了一条鱼，这条鱼真大呀！老人跟它经过了三天三夜的搏斗，终于把它制服了，但由于这条鱼太大了，比船还大，老人只好把鱼绑在船尾，准备拖回去。在回来的路上，遇到了鲨鱼群，鲨鱼发现了这条大鱼想饱餐一顿，老人想尽办法和鲨鱼搏斗，在击退了最后一条鲨鱼后，他发现大鱼也被鲨鱼啃的只剩一副骨架和一个鱼头了。老人累坏了，他躺在船上顺着海流回到了村子。村里的人从来没有看到过这么大的一副鱼骨架，都很吃惊，大家都很佩服老人。
读了这篇故事后，我也很佩服老人，他是一个勇敢、遇到任何困难都沉着冷静、永不放弃的人，他坚信人只要努力付出及一定会有收获。我要好好学*他的高贵品质，以后不管在学*上或者生活中，遇到难题都要仔细思考解决办法，就一定能有好的收获。
寒假里我读了《老人与海》，这个故事非常的吸引我。
有一个叫圣地亚哥的渔民，他连续八十四天天天出海，可是却没有捕到一条鱼，别人都说他运气实在太差了。第八十五天，有一条比他的船都大的马林鱼上钩了。他用了好几天时间，终于将这条马林鱼制服。老人的麻烦并未结束，鱼的血招来了鲨鱼，来抢鱼肉，他又与鲨鱼搏斗，可是，那条大鱼也已残缺不全。
我很佩服他，连续八十四天没打到鱼，他也不灰心，很乐观。遇到困难他也不泄气、努力克服。就算遇到了比他的船还要大的马林鱼，他也不畏强大、勇于拼搏，勇敢地制服了它。最后，他在被一群鲨鱼攻击的时候，也不怕困难，坚强地抵抗着鲨鱼的进攻，即使丢掉了自己的武器。虽然最后他没有带回鲜美的鱼肉，只带回了一具巨大的鱼的骨架，但是他没有向困难低头，没有向挫折屈服！
老人这种面对困难也要勇往直前，不向困难低头的精神，值得我们去学*！
读过《老人与海鸥》后，我深有感悟，一个叫吴庆恒的老人住在昆明，这里的翠湖公园是红嘴鹤最多的地方，老人与这群海鸥结下了深情的友谊，一月三百零八元的工资一半以上是给海鸥买最喜欢的饼干，四元五角一斤，老人唯一的好东西是两毛钱的金沙江香烟。
在与海鸥相处的11年中，他与海鸥亲密无间，每逢冬天，带着褪了色的装鸥食的塑料袋来翠湖公园给海鸥喂食，还给海鸥起了名字，“独脚”“公主”“老沙”“灰头”……。
忽然有一天，那位老人去世了。游客把老人的遗像放在公园上，海鸥像炸了营一样，急速旋转翅膀，离我们是那样的*，我们让出了一些空地来，他们在遗像前站成两排，像守灵的白翼天使一样。
感悟：一个把动物胜过自己生命的人，他是能和动物亲密相处的。所以，尊重生命的人生命才会尊重你。如果你践踏生命生命也会抛弃你的。
总结：爱惜生命就是爱惜自己，践踏生命就是践踏自己。

故事最大的亮点老人硬汉的形象如此伟岸耀眼。一个孤独的老人已经八十四天没有捕到鱼，孤独加上失败，生活好像已经到了无法继续的地步，可是老人并没有这么想，在老人的心中，一直都保留着希望，老人说:“不抱希望的人真蠢。”我突然觉得自己读懂了老人的内心。可是当看到老人经过两天两夜的战斗，终于得到大马林鱼，而接下来的时间里，大马林鱼却被一群鲨鱼咬得一干二净后，我感到一阵阵伤心。命运对老人实在是太不公*了。他该如何对待以后的生活呢？
看到后文，老人又一次让我体会到了什么才是真正的勇敢。他没有怨天尤人，而是*静的接受事实，并且在返航不久，就和孩子们讨论起以后的打算。因为“每一回都是重新的开始”更因为“人可以毁灭但决不能被打败！”读到这里，我内心真的被震撼了！我终于明白:只要拥有奋不顾身的勇气，就会有战胜困难的力量。
合上书本，我闭上眼睛，大脑里回忆着《老人与海》这本书中跌伏曲折的故事情节，脑海里浮现着这本书中老人坚强的硬汉形象。文章中作者设计的老人硬汉形象，把勇敢，坚定不屈这几个词的道理诠释的`无微不至。
一个老人来到海边求生，几天都没打到鱼，干粮要吃完了，终于有一天，他把网撒下去时网到了一条巨大的金枪鱼，他奋力把网拖到岸上，但又遇到了鲨鱼如潮水般的攻击，他奋力抵抗，终于把鲨鱼赶了回去，但是，老人捕到的金枪鱼也只剩一条鱼尾巴了。
虽然老人有捕到鱼但也被鲨鱼吃得差不多了，但是老人敢于与鲨鱼搏斗不甘向命运屈服的精神，使我向老人肃然起敬。他并没有像其他渔夫一样，抛下渔网和鱼抱头鼠窜，而是拿起自己的武器，与鲨鱼进行拼搏，老人这种精神，不就像中国抗日战争时期的那些坚贞不屈的英烈们吗，他们都聚有一个精神，那便是不畏强权，奋战到底，这本书的老人教会了我做人，要努力奋斗，不能随随便便，就放下自己的武器，举起自己的双手，向敌人屈服，要坚持自己，用自己的努力、奋斗击退对自己人生道路的威胁险阻!

《老人与海》是海明威晚年最杰出的一部作品。整个故事叙述的就是关于一个遭遇命运捉弄的老渔民圣地亚哥的故事。故事情节简单：一位老渔夫在连续八十四天没有捕到鱼，可在远离陆地的的大海上遇到了一条巨大的大马林鱼。
经过三天三夜耐力与毅力的较量，圣地亚哥终于杀死了那条大马林鱼。可在他返航的途中，却遭到了鲨鱼的袭击，当他终于回到港口时，那条大马林鱼只剩下鱼头、鱼尾和一条光秃秃的脊骨。
交上霉运、一筹莫展的老人在离海岸很*的水域都一直无法捕到鱼，于是他凭着自己丰富的经验来判断，决定勇敢地孤身一个人去更远的海域去捕大鱼。历经了*常人无法接受的'千难万险，老人不断地挑战自己身心的极限，终于捕获了他有生以来见过最大的一条大马林鱼。

the old man and the sea is one of hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. it played a great part in his winning the pulizer prize in 1953 and the 1954 novel prize for literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. besides the old man and the sea, i have read some of his other works, such as the sun also rises, a farewell to arms and the snow of kilimanijaro. but the old man and the sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.
i first read this book when i was in my fifteens. and now i remember it just as well as if i had read it yesterday.

its long long ago, maybe before i can read English books. i dont remember which movie edition i had seen. but i was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. i was very favor of a section of music in its balls. its pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. regarding to the characters, i liked elizabeth, the ***e,though i didnt think shes beautiful. but shes smart. however, i didnt pay much attention to the plot. i thought its so long that it made me impatient and bored. by now, i havent read the whole story in English or its chinese version, either. i owe it to my prejudice.

The villagers are split into two groups. The older fishermen that respect Santiago and wish him luck, and the younger fishermen that see him as little more than bad luck. While neither group is particularly important to the plot, each of their views sets an ambiance of Santiagoa?s forthcoming adventure. Without their views Santiago would be little more than a lucky old fisherman.
Santiago has a resolute grip upon reality and lives by it. He sees himself as a man with little direction but enough determination and experience to live. He chose not to see what others thought but instead lived by how he perceived the world. His constant struggles and his persistent resolve to overcome the marlin and himself show his earnest desires to live and fish.
The boy is a crucial element to Santiagoa?s world. Manolin is always at the edge of Santiagoa?s mind when he thinks of convenience. At times with the fish, Santiago thinks to the boy and then to his own lack of ability. He may deny it, but at times it is his relationship with the boy that both makes him realize he needs help, and compels him to go on.
Christian imagery and concepts are important assets to the old fishermana?s personality. He is seen as a kind man, and although expresses his frustration towards certain points, only conveys his anger towards the evil representation of the sharks. His kind, infinite eyes, and he carrying his mast like Jesus and his cross only augment his Christ-like personage. His loneliness and greatness are both shown as Manolin is assigned a new boat after 40 days with Santiago, the same length of time as Christ spent in the wilderness.
Santiagoa?s change at the end of the novella turns him into almost a universal hero. By being at sea, his ventures were never limited and the events of the story just seemed to happen. After he rebukes himself for his arrogance with the marlin, Santiago goes home and dreams of the lions playing in Africa, signaling a cycle of a child-like rebirth through Manolin.
Throughout the story many aspects can be found about Santiagoa?s personality merely by the content of his 3-day fight with the marlin. The ideology that encompasses the story is only consumed by Santiagoa?s pure will to persevere. Certainly Santiago is a man of many themes and personality traits.
I believe that in the past three decades, the way society has treated he elderly has remained primarily the same. Some younger citizens have looked up to the elderly with respect, yet most continue to shun them and consider them useless and hopeless in a society such as ours. I think that the elderly population is continually losing respect from the new generations. Santiago, the elderly man in the novel The Old Man and the Sea, is respected by a young boy, Manolin, yet he is also looked down upon by many of the younger fishermen in the Cuban fishing village where he lives. This book is set in the late 1930"s and, I as I see it, shows that societies all around the world have had a decline in respect for the older people in their environment since the beginning of the nineteenth century.
An enormous number of issues have changed since Santiago"s time, allowing the elderly to have the ability to do more in their old age and live in areas specifically designed for their needs. However, there is still an enormous lack of respect for the older people in society, and it is becoming worse every day. Younger citizens of our country make fun of older people, call them names, and believe that they are incapable of doing most things that the younger ones are capable of doing. When we believe they can no longer support themselves, we place our elderly relatives into retirement homes and old folks" homes as many call them. Sometimes they, themselves, do not wish to go to such a place, but we force them to, which many times is the wrong choice. Some younger people help the elderly, though, and try to support them, but few of these people can be found. It is a fact that when people get beyond a certain age, their memories begin depleting and they atrophy physically. However, as Santiago shows in the novel, older people have much knowledge about the world around them and enough strength to make it through hard situations if they are determined and have the will and courage to believe in a better tomorrow.
In Santiago"s community, it is shown that their is still a natural respect for elders, as is seen in Manolin"s support of the old man. He was one of the dying breed that truly looked up to his elders and regarded their feelings and experiences with much respect. He greatly aided Santiago by giving him support and courage and helping him through every day chores. Their are still some people with such feelings in the world today, yet many have had their opinions swayed by others and begin to think badly of the elderly.
Their is also a lack of respect for Santiago and the elderly in the novel, which can be found in the actions of the young fisherman. Some laugh at him when he passed by, and some thought of him to be too old to be a fisherman. They believed he was not in good enough shape to catch a fish, yet it was only his bad luck that deterred him from doing such a thing. He was much better and more exact than most of the other fisherman in the village, yet they could not see past his age to view his accomplishments.
I think the false beliefs about the weakness of the elderly can be turned around only if society looks much harder at their abilities and their goals. We must begin to see that although they may not have great physical strength, they still have a mind that is capable of many things. Their are many jobs that they can hold in the workplace and many things they can do to help society of which we, the younger generation, are not aware. We must realize that they have gone through many experiences that we have not and that they hold a vast amount of knowledge about the world around them. There will come a time when one"s age does not determine the value of one"s life, but we can change that dream to reality only if we try.
A man is not born for failure. One can destroy, but not defeat.

小说歌颂高级的渔夫的精神恐惧艰难和危险的努力没有斗争,我们也应该像他这样,不能满足于现状,应该积极,做任何事都是无情的,遇到困难必须欢迎以上困难,绝不中途放弃。只有这样,我们才可以获得更大的成功和胜利。
After I read the book that is called “The old man and the sea” I was dee*** moved by the old man and his spirit.
The book written by Hemingway tells us a story that an old man whose name is Santiago went out to do some fishing on the sea on his own but down on his luck he hadn’t caught any fish for 84 days. Next day he caught a huge marlin which is bigger than his boat and took a formidable battle with it. He beat it at the end. When he was on the way home the smells of blood of the marlin draw a lot of sharks’ attention and they fought for it. In order to protect the marlin and him the old man tried his best to fight with them. After a cruel fight he won it and came back home tiredly. Although he only got a skeleton of the giant marlin at last he is also a great hero in many people’s heart.
In the article the old man is a great man. Although he failed for many time in his life he never gave up. He is a steel-willing man who insisted his dream and work hard. You can destroy him but you can’t beat him. Whatever he faced to he would never yield to the difficult which shows a strong spirit.
In our lives I think we should learn something from the old man which will make us have a more valuable life. Whenever and wherever we meet trouble we should never give up and try our best to overcome it. We should always keep on our dream and make it come true. Every one has his backbone which can’t be bended by anyone which is very important for everyone in his whole life. If we meet difficulty in our life we should face it bravely and work out some way to solve the problem whatever would happen at last. We can be destroyed but we can’t be beat by anything or anyone. If you failed for many times in your life you wouldn’t surrender because if you try to do it you may succeed in your life but if you do not do it you would not be succeed forever. Everyone has his advantages and disadvantages in his life but we should face to our disadvantages and we must be confident which would also make us be confident of our life. We should have faith in what we do in our life we will have a more beautiful life in the future and our dream will come true. We should pay more attention to what we do during our life rather than what we will get at the end because I think it is more important than any thing you get finally. If you enjoy you life not something you get you will have a meaningful life and a noble spirit. It will hurt you when you pay more attention to what you get in the future. It will also make you do something wrong which is bad for other people our society and our country.
I’m impressed by the sentence which is “We can be destroyed but we can’t be beat.” I think everyone should do it no matter what happen in our life. This book makes me know something I didn’t know in the past. The book and the old man have a great influence in my life. I love this book.
