We can move in that direction as a country in greater polarization -- black people amongst blacks and white amongst whites filled with hatred toward one another. Or we can make an effort as Martin Luther King did to understand and to comprehend and replace that violence that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land with an effort to understand compassion and love.
For those of you who are black and are tempted to fill with -- be filled with hatred and mistrust of the injustice of such an act against all white people I would only say that I can also feel in my own heart the same kind of feeling. I had a member of my family killed but he was killed by a white man.
But we have to make an effort in the United States. We have to make an effort to understand to get beyond or go beyond these rather difficult times.

My topic is Honesty. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his consience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.
When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was dee*** touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

When I was in high school, I once did very poorly on an important exam. My father didn’t punish me, but told me one simple sentence "fishing itself is more important than the fish."
I was a bit unsure hearing that. I know that my father loves fishing. I often saw him release the fish after catching them. And he had told me more than once that he went fishing just because he wanted to feel the rod in his hands as the fish plays with the hook, and to feel the thrill of lifting the fish out of the water. But I could not find out what his words have to do with me.
I repeated his words over and over again. Then I began to understand what he really meant. To his way of thinking, the process of doing something is much more important than the result. Yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. We do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives. It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel? Nevertheless, one cannot foresee the future. Accidents do happen. My name is Tiffany, a Year 2 student from the University of Macau. I am currently an active member of the university Public Speaking Team, president of the Honours College Student Association, and also the vice president of the event department in Marketing Society. I am very active and outgoing. I enjoy being with people, engaged in conversations with them so that I can understand them more. I like public speaking as it can help increase my self-esteem and self-confidence. Aside from public speaking, I am also good at English recitation. I have joined the Macao-wide English Individual Recitation for a number of times when I was studying in the secondary school. Imagine a car without a steering wheel. Tough to imagine, right? Well, actually that’s the image you see if a person has no faith. Faith helps to guide us in our lives, encourage us to persist, and give directions when we are lost. In this peaceful era, our life paths seem to be already well-planned and determined. What we have to do is to follow. Yes, we may face different sorts of challenges, but at least they are less harsh when compared to those in the past. We do not need to worry about starving to death, or how to earn enough money to buy food for our siblings and sustain our lives. It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel? Nevertheless, one cannot foresee the future. Accidents do happen. Hi，I'm Alex from Bei Jing No.80 middle school. It's an honor for me to have this opportunity to share some of thoughts with all of you at this moment. As we all know, Beijing has the opportunity to host the 2008 Summer Olympic Game. We have been waiting for years for this chance to show others around the world to our very home, and show them the combination of technology, history, and environment that we all cherish well. We're pretty satisfied with our nationality, locally. But as I traveled to a few foreign countries, I realize that some children with Chinese backgrounds are unwilling or ashamed to be what they are, because of some unavoidable racism and racial discrimination. And some are just embarrassed because they have black hair, brown eyes and yellow skin; they think being like this makes them look ugly, some even wished that they were Caucasian. It's a sad reality that these people really exist. So I realized that how important it is to make understanding between others and us. So, what does racism have to do with the 2008 Olympics? As I have mentioned, it's a chance. But it isn't just a chance for us to go and show others our culture. It's a chance for us to go and show some people who we really are, it's a chance for us to go and show some people that if they can do it, we can do it, too. It's a chance to let them change their view about us forever, and then they will know that no matter what race you are we are all the same, no race is more better then the other in any field. But this chance only comes for once in a lifetime; let's not waste it. I don't think anyone wants to wait for another fifty years; the future is now. So don't stand there and wait, you have to run to it. Maybe things will happen during this marathon, but one thing is for sure, we will all make it. So let's not lose faith.

It is well know that the olympic games happened in Beijing successfully. China gained the winner and got the most champion gold medal. We all are proud of it.
Now the Nanjing youth olympic games is just around the corner. There is a crazy for Gold medal among the sports player. Even some students go back to the field for a good results. It seems that everyone is striving for them.
Why are gold medal so attractive? It can be explained by the comments of our nation and society. Our nation often evaluates a sports player on the basis of whether not the gold medal he or she get. Usually, the more medals one have, the more respects and opportunities one will have. gold medal are often regarded as a passport to personal advancement.
Not long ago, I got a news in the newspaper. It shocked me a lot. It was reported that the world university gymnastics champion Zhangshangwu was dropped to the street after release from prison. It was called “MAIYI”.
How pathetic! how would it happened? so, so somewhere must be wrong. What IS theproblen actually?
Ladies and Gentlemen:the problem is our physical education system. The current system always encourage them to try their utmost to win the game. It doesn’t enable them to gain the real olmpic games spirit,the player who came out first are not necessary mean a real sportsman. I mean the “ real sportsman”.
Besides ,this system often drive the coach to cram a lot of awareness all the time. such as ,country groly,becoming famous and of course money.they are force to train those players become the MACHINES of making medals.
Something must be done to change our current our PE system. There should be some reasonable and encourageable measures to drive the person who are crazy about sports keep moving,pursue the extreme of our humanbeings. In a word,we should return back to the real Olympic games spirit: HIGHER, SWIFTER,and STRONGER! And that is what we should do at once!

My family lives in a flat.
The sitting room is the biggest and my room is the smallest, but it is a world of my own.

In the right hand corner is the Zheng, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, and on the table is the computer.

My dad loves me.
