The tale of two cities is a historical story, one of Dickens’ long fictions. The background to the novel is the revolution of France .It portrayed a brutal and bloody story , but it also contained love and friendship.

In the novel, Dickens sarcastically described a typical cruel nobleman-marquis of Evermonde . When he was young he and his brother stole a countrywoman by force and killed her family .What’s worse , he used his power to imprison Dr Manette , a kind and honest man who knew all the things they had done and wanted to disclose their crimes . In order to hide their crimes. Marquis of Evermonde and his brother threw Doctor Manette into prison for 18 years . During these 18 years,Doctor Manette lost his freedom and suffer a great in spirit .

I felt unthinkable that Marquis of Evermonde and his brother killed people just as easily as they killed chickens. They deprived other people’s freedom as they liked and they thought it was normal and unremarkable. They had never realized that they had done something wrong or something improper. Because their nature was cruel and evil, like demons. There is an old saying which means: People who mit too many crimes will kill themselves. After all, there is justice in the world. The demons can’t be rampant forever. Because the world will not forgive them. They will pay their lives for their crimes. Let’s see the consequence of the Marquis,’’He lay there like a stone with a knife pushed into his heart." I think it was just what he ought to gain and it is a real exciting scene.

The Marquis’ death was just the beginning of people’s resistance to the nobleman. Gradually more and more people joined in the revolution. One after another nobleman were sentenced to death and their heads were cut down . However, some innocent people were implicated in the revolution. Charles Darney was one of them He was the nephew of Marquis of Evermonde. To the opposite of his uncle, Darney was a kind and independent young man.

Dickens spoke highly of kindness mercy and love in the novel too. This is the other thone of the novel when Doctor Manette was released from prison. It was his daughter Lucie who took care of him and helped him return to normal. During this time, Dr manette and Lucie knew Charles Darney and Sydeny Carton, the two young man fell in love with Lucie at the same time . At last, Lucie married Chares Darney .Dr Manette accepted Darney as his son-in-law although he knew that Darney was the nephew of the man who threw him into prison for18 years. This is the love between father and daughter. And Sydeny Carton , the very great man ,loved Lucie dee*. He promised Lucie that he would do everything for her happiness. He did it truely ,he sacrificed himself instead of Darney who looked the same as him. This is love for lovers . This is the most wonderful thing in the world. It also reminds us that no matter how no matter when there is true love existing. At the end , Lucie, Dr Manette and Darney arrived in England safely.

The tale of two cities is different from other historical fictions. Its characters and main plots are fictional under the real background of the revolution of France. The author made the experience of the fictional charactor Dr Manette as the main clue. The plots are plicated, and they are flexuous and dramatic. The structure is plete and rigorous.

Dickens had dear love and hate. He praised those who ought to be praised and attacked those who ought to be attacked. The motivation of the novel maybe just warn the English dominators. But I think we can learn something meaningful from the tale of two cities.

A Tale of Two Cities was written by Charles Dickens, who was born in Portsmouth, England in 1812. As the second of eight children, Dickens had to go to work at the age of twelve to support his poor family, and he lived a difficult childhood. This troublesome time scarred him dee* and provided him with substantial material for such stories as Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, and Great Expectations. Though just accepted only little education, Dickens became a famous writer through his struggling self-learning and extremely hard work, and he was the representative writer of realism in the 19th century.

Charles Dickens lived in the period of transition between feudalism and capitalism, when the industrial revolution originated in England swept through Europe. As large numbers of workers invaded into urban centers to earn a living, the bourgeois took advantages of the surplus of labor by keeping wages low. The poor thus remained poor, and often lived in a narrow and filthy environment. Dickens’ writing depicted various directions about this society, and provided a keen, sympathetic chronicle of the plight of the urban poor.

A Tale of Two Cities mainly about the great atrocities of French aristocrats compelled the poor citizens to resist violently. Doctor Manette spent eighteen years as a prisoner in Bastille because he intended to expose the atrocity after learning that

Marquis Evrémonde killed a beautiful farmwife and her younger brother because of his brother’s lust. After Doctor Manette was free again, his daughter Lucie got married with Charles Darnay, Marquis Evrémonde’s nephew, but chose to live in England because he could not accept the cruel injustices of the French social system and the snobbish and cruel values of his uncle. However, Marquis Evrémonde continued his atrocities. After his crazy carriage crushed over a farmer’s little baby as if nothing happen, he was killed at night. A revolutionary storm was brewing. Mr. and Mrs.Defarge were the revolutionaries in the poor Saint Antoine section of Paris. They wanted to kill all French aristocrats, including Charles Darnay. Mr.Defarge used to be Doctor Manette’s servant, so he was kind to Manettes, while his wife’s heart burned with longing for revenge. At last, Charles Darnay was judged to death, But Sydney Carton, a lawyer who loved Lucie dee*, willing to die instead of Darnay, as they had similar appearance.

From my personal point of view, the person A Tale of Two Cities described astounded me very much. Some of them were cruel, crazy and reasonless, while some of them were kind, moral and had own mind.

Sydney Carton was the person I thought the most. He was a smart attorney, without his help, Mr. Stryver could not solve any cases. But he was lazy, alcoholic, and cared nothing and nobody, he even could not find any interests in his own life, it seems that he lived just for wasting life. But he loved Lucie dee*. Finally, he became a hero, because he sacrificed his life to save Darnay. I didn’t know why the author spent so many words to form such a strange guy at frist, he used his life to love Lucie, after all. But now, I caught it. Perhaps the terrible Carton symbolized the terrible old France, and his change in the end shown that everything could change, including the old France, a new and fine society would replace the violence.

Then, Charles Darnay. He was worthy of esteem or respect. He displayed great virtue in his rejection of his uncle, Marquis Evrémonde. Money and power meant nothing to him, if they came from exploitation and oppression. Even though he had to inherit his uncle’s bequest, he left them to the poor and lived in London throught his own effort. When he realized that he must go back to Paris to help Gabelle, one of his servants, and make right the wrong his uncle had done, he acted without hesitation because he knew that was his duty. He even refused Carton’s help after he was judged to death. I thought, Charles Darnay was a shiny diamond in that cruel and violent society, and he was a hope, the hope of equality and peace.

Third, Mrs.Defarge. How crazy this woman was. Nobody could stop her steps toward revenge, except the death. Although it said that wherever there is oppression, there is resistance, I didn’t agree with Mrs.Defarge totally. Her resistance was inhumane, insensible and endless. For just as the aristocracy’s oppression had made an oppressor Mrs.Defarge herself, so will her oppression, in turn, make oppressors her victims. In the end of the novel, her death by a bullet from her own gun. It shown the author’s belief that inordinate retaliated lust would destroy one own self.

On the whole, A Tale of Two Cities is a successful novel. It shows us oppression and resistance, violence and terror, revolution and vengeance, love and friendship.

I am lucky enough to live in the 21st century, when peace and development are pursued all along. Nowadays, there also are many problems and dissensions among this world, but violence does not the best way problems are solved. Violence just creates more problems, something every sensible person knows. What we need are talks and communication. The time A Tale of Two Cities mentions has gone, we should do enough preparation to adapt the coming age.

Recently, I read a tale of two cities. I think that it’s a good novel.

First, I want to introduce the author of this book .His name is Charles Dickens, he is an outstanding writer. He is one of the greatest writers in the 19 century. However, he had a painful childhood. He was arrested when he was 10 years old due to household debt. He had only a few years of learning. So, in his early years, his works are more about the painful children. He criticized the black of capitalism and had the sympathy for the poor. Now, let me introduce this novel. The background of this book is the French revolution. Before the revolution, the young doctor .Manette witnessed the guilty of the French marquis. So he was arrested in the Bastille by the marquis. After two years, his wife died. His daughter Lucie was send to London by his friends Lorry and adopted by the Miss Pross who is a maidservant. After 18 years, he was released from the Bastille and was taken care by his old servant Defarge. His daughter wanted to take his father to London. In the travel, she met the son of the marquis Charles Darnay who hated the guilty of his father and uncle. Then they loved each other. And now, Charles Dannay’s father had died, so manette wanted to forget the painful memory and hoped his daughter happy. So he agreed with them. In 1789, France break the revolution. All of the marquises was send to the guillotine. Because the Darnay was a marquis. So the Defarge read the report which was written by the doctor. Then Dannay was sentenced to death. Now Carton who always hidden loved Lucie went to the prison and he pretended Dannay. So Dannay escaped the prison. And carton was killed. However Madame Defarge still not gave up. She wanted to killed Dannay’s wife Lucie and their young child; finally she was burned by the pross.

After read this novel, let me know about the French revolution. I think the people who lived in that period were not lucky. The poor were very sad. They were too blindness. And I was moved the carton, he died for his love, and I like him very much.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incre*ty, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way

Charles Dickens(1812~1870),one of the greatest novelist in England. I have read his A tale of two cities .And this is the beginning of the book.

“A Tale of Two Cities”, one of Dickens’ works, is a well-known long story. And it has a great influence on the society at that time. When I saw the title at first, I thought it might tell something about the developing process of two cities, which might be no fun. However, after reading it , I found I had been wrong.

It portrays a brutal, bloody and revengeful society as well as love and friendship. It happened before and after the Revolution in France. The ruthless and cruel landowners and noblemen exploited the miserable people who owned nothing, but these poor people worked for others day and night. Noblemen had the power that one word would doubtlessly send others to prison. As time passed by, the noise of the coming-up revolution storm in Paris was growing louder and louder. At last, it was on the fourteenth of July, 1789 that the revolution broke out.

“The Bastille and its officers were in the hands of people, and the people wanted revenge and blood.” The true Freedom of France came. “The Guillotine, the new machine of death, cut off the heads of many, many people—not only the powerful and the cruel, but also the beautiful, the innocent, and the good.” Among the good, there was a man called Darney. Even though his father, wife and friends knew he was innocent, the people thought he was the enemy and would go to the Guillotine.

In spite of a shadow of fear and hate here and there, we can also see the great and kind persons. I think the greatest person is Mr. Manette who had been a prisoner in the Bastille for eighteen years. What he suffered was difficult to imagine, but he was still kind and loved his daughter. He did his best to save his son-in-law, whose father and uncle were the men that had ever sent him to prison. Another great man is the lawyer, Sydney Carton, a friend of Darney. Before Darney went to Guillotine, Mr. Carton changed places with him and he said, “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever know.” Besides, the story is full of love, including the love between father and daughter, the love between husband and wife, the love among friends and so on. In short, only if you have love in your heart, the life is meaningful. At the same time, the revenge will run away with you, freedom and happiness will be around you.

There is no doubt that Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers

in English. From this book, I see some true lives and moving stories from the old ages. I think you must feel the same as me that we don’t want to live in that condition. To be frank, we all look forward to living in a peaceful and love situation. Though the present life has improved a lot, there are still wars in some places. All that we need is to solve the problems in peaceful ways instead of by force. So let’s work hard together in order to make our life much more meaningful and happier, make our society more harmonious.

Crazily, but truthfully,I finished reading the most part of the novel "A Tale of Two Cities" in just one day.Lost in the story,I felt like being together with the characters and experiencing the same exciting events.Soon it came to an end.To tell you my feelings, its infinite sadneand a strong emotion that can drive me to cry.

The story is set in London and Paris at the time of the great French Revolution. It shows the causes of revolution and its effects on peoples day-to-day lives. Before the revolution, the King and the aristocracy treated their people cruelly in France. The common people were extremely poor and miserable. The crops in the fields were poor as if even the land shared the misery of the people. And there were so heavy taxes that all the villagers had nothing to hand over at last.On the other hand, the aristocracy made their will as the law by using money and gold. There were no justice,no equality and no fairness.Just as what happened to Dr Manette,he wrote to the Minister to show the crime what Marquis Evremonde had done, resulting in himself being arrested and sent to the prison Bastille without any reason.

Then this situation of darknewas needed to be changed. As people such as the Defarges prepared and arranged,at length the Revolution came to break out. When the Bastille was captured and the King was tried and put to death as well as many other aristocrats, things didnt go on as what they had been expected. The sistuation stayed the same,or even worse. The prisoners from the Bastille were set free while more prisons were filled with people who had done no wrong again.People who once lived on the bottom of clatook the charge now and their heart had been full of evil. The only thing they wanted to do was to revenge. And these so-called "patriots" would like to see more and more innocent prisoners going to the guillotine and thats their joy.As the novel wrote,"In everything they did were merciless, for they had been hardened in the fires of suffering and the touch of pity could make no mark on them".

Equality and fairneis what people seek, which led to the French Revolution. As a consequence, neither equality nor fairnewas got after the revolution. And thats the tragedy of the history.I was heavyhearted when reading what Sydney Carton said before death and I burst into tears finally.

A Tale of Two Cities is one of Dickens’s masterpieces; the story is an exposure of the contradiction before France Revolution-the appealing of “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” by France lower class.

The main clue of the novel is based on the terrible experience of Dr. Manette, the plot is very complex, attracting, and exciting. Lying at the heart of which we can see the themes from different people.

  Sydney Carton

When I read the chapter pertaining to interrogation on Charles Darney, intuition tells that the lawyer assistant who feels at ease with his eyes fixed on the ceiling must be a very special man, which turned out to be right when I finished the whole book. He seems indifferent about everything, even his love. He is brilliant but he thinks otherwise, or rather, he thinks he is inferior to others. Even his master thinks that if he worried about this or that, he would make a great success. Feeling of humbleness is the fatal point leading the loss of his beloved one. If Lucie Manette lives with him, he thinks, she would sustain much hardship. At the end of the story, he sacrifices his life for his love willingly.

Many people say that love is selfish and egocentric, but the temperament of Sydney Carton tells us that love can be sublime and pure. Through this, Dickens tells us loving someone doesn’t mean you should live together with him or her. You can help your beloved one silently, even sacrifice for love. This is universal fraternity, I think, which is the sublimation of normal love. And also, Dickens may indicate that true love really exists, regardless of the situation is full of commotion or not.

  Charles Darney

He’s born at a family of royal lineage-the son of Marquis. Regret and abomination fill in his mind for the cruelty and the crime his family have done to the poor. He determines to quit the right of inheritance of his family and moves to England to acting as a French teacher. When he comes back to France, his notorious and sadistic uncle who holds the succession of the family doesn’t welcome him. His uncle is doomed to death because of his cruelty. When he returns to England, he proposes marriage to Lucie Manette. He knows his proposal may not be accepted by Dr.Manette, for he is the son of the enemy of Dr.Manette. After the France Revolution breaks out, he returns to France again to save a servant. But unfortunately, he’s cast into prison.

  Lucie Manette

She goes to France with Jarvis Lorry to take her father back, she shows great sympathy to Sydney Carton, and she prayed his husband would get an early deliverance from captivity.

She is a kind-hearted lady made of love and sympathy; she is also the incarnation of elegance.

  Dr.Manette

As a victim of the gloom society, he lives a miserable and contradictory life. After releasing from prison, the only thing he does is making shoes, which become worse when he comes across a harsh situation. He loves his daughter just as she does to him, even when he knows that Charles Darney is the son of his enemy, he allow the proposal. And when he notices his daughter was totally down to know the fact that her husband was put into prison, he promise to her that he will rescue him out. He spares no effects to do that, in vain, though.

From this person, Dickens may tells that love between the lower-class family members are as pure as crystal.

  Jarvis Lorry

An elderly manager at Tellsons Bank and a dear friend of Dr. Manette. He is very loyal to Dr. Manette. He accompanies them all the time without considering his own life.

  Couple Defarge

They’re the leader of the revolution. Ernest Defarge, to some extent, is a good man. He was the servant of Dr.Manette, he provides accommodation for him. But his wife, Madame Defarge, is really a wicked woman. She knits all the time, she wants to kill all the people who lead a richer or happier life just out of envying and revenge. The result turns out to be dramatic: she’s killed by herself as a consequence that the gun goes off by accident.

Resurrection maybe is the main theme in the novel. Dickens here implied that he doesn’t agree the upper class treat the poor badly, meanwhile, he doesn’t agree the lower-class to overthrow the upper class. He hopes that they can live in harmony with each other. Underneath the lines, Dickens wants his readers to be careful that the same sort of revolution that so damaged France wont happen in Britain, which is shown to be nearly as unjust as France. But his warning is addressed not to the British lower classes, but to the aristocracy. He repeatedly uses the metaphor of sowing and reaping; if the aristocracy continues to plant the seeds of a revolution through behaving unjustly, they can be certain of harvesting that revolution in time. The lower classes do not have any agency in this metaphor: they sim* react to the behavior of the aristocracy. In this sense it can be said that while Dickens sympathizes with the poor, he identifies with the rich: they are the books audience, its "us" rather than its "them". Crush humanity out of shape once more, under similar hammers, and it will twist itself into the same tortured forms. Sow the same seed of rapacious license and oppression over again and it will surely yield the same fruit according to its kind.

Today, I finally read the book of two cities by the British writer Charles Dickens. After reading this book, I was in a long mood.

Novels in the 18th century French revolution as the background, the story will be in Paris, London, link up the two big cities, a narrative horse nate doctor is full of love and adventure, interspersed with the nobles cruelty, peoples anger, trial spy... It mainly reveals the social order of the British and French in that period, and the life of the nobles and the ordinary people.

The book focuses on the fact that poor Dr Manette, who had been imprisoned in the bastille for 19 years by the aristocracy, had his daughter taken to live in England. In court, the father and daughter met the French nobleman darley and the poor master carton. Later, manettes daughter Lucy and darley married, and after ten years of happy family life, caton also gave Lucy a promise to make Lucy happy.

The people living in poor and helpless, cold and hunger, the plight of poor sickness repeatedly, suffered oppression, their hearts a backlog of deep and deep hatred of nobility, finally triggered the French revolution to overthrow the regime, for freedom. After the outbreak of the French revolution, darley went to France to defend his innocent servant, but he was arrested for being a French aristocrat. And carton, in order to make the promise of lucies life happy, used him to be similar to darley, and, before he was sentenced to death, he replaced him with Dudley, and replaced him with the guillotine.

The dark ages have passed, the days of hope and light have come, and the darkness is terrible! At first, the world belongs to the king, and later, the world belongs to the people. On July 13, 1789, the people stormed the bastille, where political prisoners were held; On January 21, 1793, the revolution brought king Louis xvi to the guillotine, which symbolized the end of feudal rule. On 20 February 1793, the first republic of France was established.

The 18th century, full of darkness and oppression, is gone, and the miserable life of the people is over. We have ushered in the 21st century, which is to be bathed in hope, and the long years from that era to today are as brief as they were yesterday. I think that the spirit of carton is worthy of our study, he is affectionate, he keeps his promise, in order to fulfill his promise to Lucy, at all costs, including precious life.

The people of today will never let history repeat itself, nor will history repeat itself. Let us live each day and make our 21st century more glorious!

Recently I read a novel called A Tale of Two Cities. The novel is based on the French Revolution. It was 1775,both England and France were on the verge of Revolution .England's king ,George Ⅲ,was having trouble with his American colonies .And France 's king ,LouisⅩⅥ, was too concerned with his own wealth to worry about his people .

Therefore, neither king noticed the changes taking place in his country .They didn't realize ,or care ,that the peasants were hungry and unhappy .They never thought that anything was wrong with the way things were .They were wealthy ,and they thought only of themselves.

But the peasants were tired of being treated unfairly. They were tired of watching the kings waste money while their own children starved. So, in both London and Paris, the lower classes prepared to revolt .They were ready to force the kings to make a change.

Then one day in July of 1789, the Revolution began in France .Armed peasants ran through the streets of Saint Antoine .Their leader, Ernest Defarge continued to pass out weapons. The men cheered and waved their weapons in the air .Then, they marched toward the Bastille.

The novel also talks the story of two men, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton., who look similar but are very different in personality. Darnay is a romantic French aristocrat, his uncle is the Marquis St.

Evremonde. The Marquis is infamous for his cruelty. While is a cynical English barrister. However, the two are in love with the same woman, Lucie Manette.

Charles Darnay is not cruel like his uncle has been. When he knew his servant is in danger, he went to France at once to defend him. He had promised his mother that he would help the peasants. He had a hard time traveling through France. When he finally reached Paris, he was taken prisoner. In my point of view, Charles Darnay is innocent, he is not cruel.

The other one is Sydney Carton.

In my opinion, he is a wonderful man. He once said,‘I am not worthy of your love, but I want you to know that I wish for your happiness. I hope that we will able to remain close friends. Miss Manette, I would give my life for you. Never forget that, Lucie.’ Eventually, he was to die in Charles Darnay’s place. Because Charles Darnay is Lucie’s husband, and they led a happy life. In order to help Lucie live a enjoyable life, he was to die in Charles Darnay’s place.

From the novel 'A tale of two cities '.I learn much ,not only the Revolution in two different cities ,but also the deep relationship between people .I'm impressed by Mr. Manette's tough spirit ,never give in to difficulties .Even though he had been imprisoned a long time ,he struggled to live. He was also an upright man .When his son -in -law was arrested by the Revolutionists, Dr.Manette strongly defended Charles Darnay ,hoped that the Revolutionists could release Charles Darnay .

Lucie Manette gives me a deep impression .At the beginning of the novel, I learn that her father had passed, but then,Mr. Lorry told her that her father was still alive. Because Lucie 's father was imprisoned for a long time .Her mother begged the king to help her ,but he gave no re*** .She suffered terribly when her husband disappeared ,so she told her daughter that her father had died .But she never stopped looking for Lucie's father .The king was of no help ,and she never found even one clue .Two years after his disappearance ,she died .

I am dee*** impressed by the other characters in the novel.

Mr.Lorry is also a good man ,at the first of the novel ,when he met Miss Lucie ,and told her that her father was still alive .Besides ,he helped her

to find her father in Paris .On the way to Paris ,they experienced many difficulties .But Mr.Lorry didn't give up helping Miss Lucie and Lucie 's father .As far as I concerned ,it not only show his hospitality but also show his hatred to the European royal.

In Paris, the Marquis St. Evrémonde, Darnay's uncle, is returning from an audience with Monseigneur, one of the 'greatest lords in France', when his coach runs over and kills the son of the peasant Gaspard; he throws a coin to Gaspard to compensate him for his loss; in the assembled crowd is the implacable tricoteuse, Madame Defarge. He throws the money back, enraging the Marquis and leading him to exclaim that he would willingly kill any of the peasants of France.

If I were a peasant at that time in England or France,I would join in the revolution with no hesitation .All man are equal .The king of country should concern his people whether they are starving or homeless .We can learn much from history in our country or in other countries ,only when the leader of the country cares much about his people's life can the country be stronger .People are the base of the country ,without people ,country can not be stronger and can not develop.

This holiday, I used my spare time to read dickens's "a tale of two cities", also have some understanding, I will write down my feelings.

  1. Plot arrangement.

The plot of this book is very mysterious, and the author concatenates all kinds of clues, as mentioned in the article, "weaving" becomes the novel. The greatest feature of the novel is the complexity of the characters, such as the relationship between Dr Manette and danan; The relationship between Mrs D 'urberge and dannan - the two relations directly led to the final tragedy. And the relationship between Mr. Lorry and Mr. DE hair, and the relationship between the pass and the spy, and so on. These complex figures link the work of this book.

One of the most distinctive chapters of the book is a conversation with a little girl before his death, which thoroughly reveals that the revolutionary masses are too crazy and that the good will live on for ever.

  2. Characters.

The most important character in the book is Charles daran (evmond). He was a very conflicted man, and he hated his father and uncle very much, but he had to support the whole family business. So when the old servant wrote to him, he had to return to France. He was a kind man, possessed of the civility of a nobleman, and when he met his uncle, he made it clear that he could not persecute the people. At the same time, he gave up the privileges of the nobility, which was a good deed.

Sydney Carton was also an important figure. I have never liked this casual, lazy character in the first half of the novel. But in the process of reading later, I found him to be an aggressive and resourceful person. Although it is "friend", but actually caton and south relationship is not so good, but for the sake of the family happiness drops of life, caton willing to the guillotine, let fled south, and the embodiment of the eternal good. In the article, carton died "like a prophet".

Mr And Mrs D 'arge also belong to the book's focus. He was a good man, and he took Dr Manette, and told his wife after the revolution that he would accept it. She was an avenger, and she had been persecuted by the evremonde brothers, so she wanted to kill all the French aristocrats. Of course, because of her violent behaviour, she died in the hands of miss pross.

  3. Writing features.

This novel is very humorous, and the author has been using dialectical relations and repeated techniques to achieve this effect. Therefore, this touching novel can still be read with great laughter.

One of the features of the article is that the last author "helps carton express his feelings". The author used caton's language to show the end of the article, telling people that "kindness is forever in the world".

That's how I read the novel.

"This is the best of times and the worst of times." The first sentence of a tale of two cities is quoted numerous times. But I guess the man who knows this sentence and the novel "tale of two cities" tells a story, and does not know why. If you want to understand the original meaning of this sentence, and why you write this classic sentence, it is natural to read the original.

"In short, that era is so similar to today's." This sentence actually explains the two questions of the above classic sentence: why do you say that, and to whom? This is one of the reasons why the novel was born, dickens hope that through such a novel, by describing the French revolution brought disaster to the people to express their own worry, warn the dangerous situation at the same time. A revolutionary history, two cities representing two countries, a few wind and rain people, constitute the main elements of the novel.

Although the tale of a tale of two cities is a classic novel, it is considered to be the author's view of history because it explicitly states that the revolutionary background is the French revolution. And that is the focus of countless controversies over the novel. In the novel, dickens showed the cruelty of the aristocracy, but also showed the irrational destruction of the revolutionary masses. The revolution, he argued, was a kind of oppression that replaced another kind of oppression, and a bloodbath that was a direct and heavy one instead of another. A series of depictions of the storming of the bastille and of the mob - bloody, brutal, cunning, malevolent - is the most striking aspect of the novel.

Dickens has devoted a great deal of ink to the evil of the mob, showing his abhorrence of the mob and, in a certain degree, the hatred of the revolution. Of course, as a humanist, dickens also points out the cure for the world: love. This kind of love, embodied in the novel includes family love, love, friendship and such private feelings, also includes the abandonment of the aristocracy, the salvation of the kind of fraternity. Among them, the most brilliant is the description of carton's love.

I like carton very much. In fact, carton was the embodiment of dickens, and dickens was the first to think of the man and the spirit of his body to conceive the novel. So, what was carton like? The novel describes: "the sun is sad and mournful, and the rising of sorrow, the sight unseen, is nothing worse than this man. He is talented and emotional, but he has no opportunity to show his talent. He can't do anything, and he can't make his own happiness. He knew his problem, but he resigned himself to his fate, and he wasted all his time, year after year.

It is a young man who has lost his talent and youth. The novel does not appear to have been explained, since he has appeared in the first place, and has not written much about his family background. Personally, this man represents dickens himself, so he does not need to describe too much - the fall of carton comes from his frustration with the deteriorating society. He went up to the guillotine and said, "I see the evil of this age, and the evil of the former times, which has caused this evil, and I have gradually died for my SINS."

Pessimists - caton, was rejected by his friends meet with difficulties, in the love of a woman's husband is about to be guillotined in when he suddenly appeared, be don't save the situation, do price with his own life, in the Nick of time to make a replace plan to rescue his beloved woman's husband.

It is not the love of Christ, who has redeemed his sin and died. In fact, in the novel, carton did indeed say, in the biblical tone, "the resurrection is in me, the life is in me, and the man who believes in me, though dead, will rise again. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. This is the medicine that dickens prescribed for "the worst of times", but it is, after all, an ideal. It is said that the tale of a tale of two cities is an immortal work without Sidney. The existence and behavior of carton, the novel loses its value and brilliance.

The novel has portrayed many different people. Doctor Manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually , Lucie is beautiful and gentle ,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest ,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm, unconventional but also selfless and lofty,Miss Pross is straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister…The complex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge, but take the life as the price.

As an outstanding writer,in Dickens’s work, the language skill is essential. Each kind of rhetoric technique, like the ***ogy, the exaggeration, the contrast, the humorous, and the taunt are handled skillfully, and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak.”A tale of two cities” has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes. With the broad real background of the French Revolution, the author take the fictional character Doctor Manette’s experience as the main clue, interweaves the unjust charge, love and revenge three independences but also incident cross-correlation stories together, the plot is criss-crossed,and the clue is complex. The author use narrates, foreshadowing, upholstery and so many techniques, causes the structure integrity and strictness, the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill.the style “A tale of two cities” is solemnity and melancholy, fills indignantion, but lacks the humor of the early works.

"It was the best of years, it was the worst of years, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness... We go straight to heaven, and we go straight to hell, "and dickens begins the tale of two cities with this sentence.

The beautiful miss manette, after she was an adult, knew that her father was still alive. She has been dealing with her father's family affairs and property, jarvis. Mr. Lory accompanied her to meet his father. On the way back, the father was taken care of by his daughter, and on the mail ship from France to England, Charles. Mr. Danay gave his parents, who had rested on the deck, the help, the first acquaintance, and the two left a good impression. In Charles. At the first trial, miss manette, as a witness, was assisted by Mr Carton, Charles. Darnay is out of danger. The fate of the three is tied together.

Spoony Charles. Da nai complained to his horse to horse nate doctor Burnett love stories, just read, I think he's smart, know the key to the book after reading it, I see Mr Ma nate to her daughter's blessing is need how much courage. The proposers are the offspring of the men who broke up their families. When he felt his daughter to Charles. After danai's love, he gave the couple the most holy blessing. The husband and wife are in love, the father and the daughter are strong, the child is healthy, the friend is loyal, the heaven is only so. "Needless to say, because she is thrifty, carefully, and arrange very elegant, have a rich a rich yulin, no waste, their home in this and even the slightest echo, are like music to her beauty. Needless to say, her father told her many times, he thought the marriage than unmarried more filial piety he (if any) may be more filial piety, her husband told her many times, in spite of all worry about the matter, she has to do all the obligations, does not seem to be distracted, and her love for him, for his help, and asked her, "we all think you look over everything, we would like one person, but you never seem to hurry-scurry, also not too tired, what's your secret to this trick ah, my dear?" "

Carton, from the love of miss manette, was so solemn, so noble, that she spoke of her life and her feelings for her. Miss manette had also given him his best friendship. 'I can't save you, Mr. Carton? I can't cheer you up -- forgive me again! -- on the right track? Can't I repay your trust? I know it's trust. Her sincerity, won the affection of friends, saved her lover and family.

A letter changed the family, leaving the husband dead. Charles. Darnay automatically threw himself into the heat of France and was imprisoned. The father, who had been taken care of by his daughter, became the protector of the whole family. Without law courts and trials, blood flows into rivers, murders, vengeance. Any small storm could ruin a life and ruin a family. When her husband was in custody, miss manette went to the place where the husband might see her. Charles. Darnay's second trial, a narrow escape. The third trial, the doctor's influence no longer, faces Charles. At the end of darnell's death, caton saved her husband, Charles, for miss manette, with her own life. Darnay rose from the dead. She deserves a man to love at the cost of his life.

Madame Defarge received the admiration of her husband, and her faithful love. For revenge, she would kill the count's blood. "O freedom, how many SINS are thy name! . Miss pross, "with a passionate love that is often stronger than hate," clung to madame Defarge, and in the struggle, madame Defarge injured her own life. Miss pross's love for miss manette came from miss manette's affection for her. Once again, her love saved her family.

Jarvis. In lory, the typical English gentleman, with his meticulous and emotional restraint, the bachelor was warm and consoled at miss manette's house, and kept his old friend in his life.

Miss manette, like a pearly woman, guarded her family and warmed her friends. Better a virtuous woman than a pearl!
